ITINERARY
DAY 1: IQUITOS / LODGE
We start our adventure through the Peruvian jungle at the airport in Iquitos, from there we will transport in a modern and comfortable air-conditioned
minivan traveling on a nice highway to the town of Nauta, the first town founded by the Spanish on the Banks of the Marañon River; the trip takes about
1.30 h. with a distance of 97 km.
In Nauta we board the boats of Hatuchay Hotels - Pacaya Samiria to visit the confluence of the Ucayali and Marañon Rivers (the source of the Amazon
River); from here we have a spectacular sight of the forest viewed from the height of a 100 foot high watching tower, where we are free to take
magnificent photographs and videos of the immense Amazon River. The visitors will maybe observe Herons, birds of prey and various other birds that make
their homes on the shores of the river, we will have an opportunity to see the Black Skimmers. Then we continue the journey to the Lodge, where we will
receive a warm welcome with a season fruit, they will invite us to go to our rooms to leave our luggage and then have lunch.
After a recovering rest, we will walk by footpaths on the surroundings of the lodge and will go up to the viewpoint, an ideal place to observe birds on
the canopy of the trees. We will look for observing the Paradise Tanager, Hooded Tanager, Opal-crowned Tanager, Masked Crimson Tanager, Pen-throated
Cotinga, and several species of Flycatchers. Parrots like the Canary-winged Parakeet, Short-tailed Parrot and luckily, Blue-and-Yellow Macaw.
Dependant on nigh time weather conditions, we will make a night excursion by boat to observe night animals and insects; also it is enjoyable hearing the
several sounds that comes from the forest. We will try to locate the demdrobates tiny frogs characterized by their bright colors and poisonous
peculiarity, some of the famous hylas species due to changing colors experienced during the day and night. Return to the lodge. Dinner.

DAY 2: PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVATION (RNPS)
After breakfast we go to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, with cold lunch on board, to the zone of nauta caño where we register and enter the reserve.
In our visit we make an excursion searching for pink and gray dolphins by the gorge of the same name, we will also be in touch with the immense variety of
flora and fauna the reserve offers.
The first thing that will call our attention is the river water that reflects the sky with such a fidelity, the clouds, the streamside vegetation and
large trees, that the visitors have the feeling of sailing between endless mirrors, so Pacaya Samiria is also known as "the forest of mirrors".
We will also go for a walk of interpretation of flooded forests, where we will try to see some primates and sloths, during the journey we can identify the
variety of birds and experience a traditional fishing practice with the material used by the Amazonian man for subsistence.
Immediately after the Full Day in the Reserve we go back to the Lodge, to visit the women's crafts center (temporary) of San Jorge community, known for
their work in natural fiber (Chambira).
We leave by boat on the Marañon River bound for another area of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (Cocha San Jacinto) Where we will be attended by a
group of communal surveillance working on the Paiche protection (The biggest fish in freshwater in the world) we may go canoeing along the cocha with
them, they will tell us about their work and show u show to identify this species in its own habitat, we can also see the famous aquatic plants,
"Victorias Regias", Where the guide will explain about their peculiarities, when returning we will enjoy, if time allows, one of the best sunsets which
can be seen in this flooded forest area.
Return to the lodge, we can have time for personal hygiene, Dinner. After dinner the Guide will invite us to move to other room to share myths and
legends of the Peruvian Amazon.

DAY 3: HIKING IN HIGH RESTINGA /IQUITOS
After breakfast we go hiking through restinga jungle with cold lunch returning at about noon, where we can see a variety of timber, a variety of birds
native to this forest, we will try to see some primates and mammals until we arrive to a rustic camp to rest in hammocks and if you dare enjoy the
refreshing water of a high gorge, where the Guide will explain about the importance of its existence and the role it plays in the ecosystems. When we
return to the Lodge we can have time for personal hygiene and we begin our return to Iquitos.

DAY 4: IQUITOS

At the proper time, transfer to the airport.

DAY 4: PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE LODGE/ IQUITOS
Breakfast.
Immediately after we leave by boat on the Marañon River bound for Cocha Shiriyacu where we will do fishing activities and hope to see landscapes with the
best sunsets which can be seen in this area of flooded forest.
Upon arrival to the Lodge we can have time for personal hygiene and we begin our return to Iquitos.

DAY 4: LODGE / PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE
Breakfast.
Immediately after we go camping within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Cuenca Yanayacu Pucate, where we register in PV Santo Domingo.
During this visit we also sail on black water and visit the Veinte de Enero community, where the Guide explains about resource management carried out by
local groups, palm management, Taricaya and fishery resources, also we will be in touch with the immense variety of flora and fauna that the reserve
offers.
At noon we stop for a while to have a cold lunch.
We visit the Japon and Plantano lagoons, both with a variety of palms, trees and a beautiful scenery; then we arrive to a flooded area in Restinga, where
we set up camp, walk looking for more animals or may prefer to cool off in the water of Yanayacu.
In the evening, we leave by boat for wildlife watching nocturnal habits. Upon returning we have dinner, for further overnight.

DAY 5: PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE /LODGE/IQUITOS
Breakfast.
Then we get ready to begin the return journey to the Lodge, Along the way we will enjoy the landscape that surrounds us and there we can be surprised by
some wildlife we couldn't see on our entrance trip, because in the jungle none of this is predictable.
We arrive at the Lodge at noon to have lunch and personal hygiene to return to Iquitos.

Dependant on nigh time weather conditions, we will make a night excursion by boat to observe night animals and insects; also it is enjoyable hearing the
several sounds that comes from the forest. We will try to locate the demdrobates tiny frogs characterized by their bright colors and poisonous
peculiarity, some of the famous hylas species due to changing colors experienced during the day and night. Return to the lodge. Dinner.

DAY 2: PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVATION (RNPS)
After breakfast we go to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, with cold lunch on board, to the zone of nauta caño where we register and enter the reserve.
In our visit we make an excursion searching for pink and gray dolphins by the gorge of the same name, we will also be in touch with the immense variety of
flora and fauna the reserve offers.
The first thing that will call our attention is the river water that reflects the sky with such a fidelity, the clouds, the streamside vegetation and
large trees, that the visitors have the feeling of sailing between endless mirrors, so Pacaya Samiria is also known as "the forest of mirrors".
We will also go for a walk of interpretation of flooded forests, where we will try to see some primates and sloths, during the journey we can identify the
variety of birds and experience a traditional fishing practice with the material used by the Amazonian man for subsistence.
Immediately after the Full Day in the Reserve we go back to the Lodge, to visit the women's crafts center (temporary) of San Jorge community, known for
their work in natural fiber (Chambira).
We leave by boat on the Marañon River bound for another area of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (Cocha San Jacinto) Where we will be attended by a
group of communal surveillance working on the Paiche protection (The biggest fish in freshwater in the world) we may go canoeing along the cocha with
them, they will tell us about their work and show u show to identify this species in its own habitat, we can also see the famous aquatic plants,
"Victorias Regias", Where the guide will explain about their peculiarities, when returning we will enjoy, if time allows, one of the best sunsets which
can be seen in this flooded forest area.
Return to the lodge, we can have time for personal hygiene, Dinner. After dinner the Guide will invite us to move to other room to share myths and
legends of the Peruvian Amazon.

DAY 3: HIKING IN HIGH RESTINGA
After breakfast we go hiking through Restinga jungle with cold lunch returning at about noon, where we can see a variety of timber, a variety of birds
native to this forest, we will try to see some primates and mammals until we arrive to a rustic camp to rest in hammocks and if you dare enjoy the
refreshing water of a high gorge, where the Guide will explain about the importance of its existence and the role it plays in the ecosystems.
In the afternoon you have time to rest and then the program "An afternoon meeting with the world view of the Amazonian man" with respect to ayahuasca
and the medicinal plants. Dinner.

DAY 4 - Day 5: LODGE / PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE
Breakfast.
Immediately after we go camping within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Cuenca Yanayacu Pucate, where we register in PV Santo Domingo.
During this visit we also sail on black water and visit the Veinte de Enero community, where the Guide explains about resource management carried out by
local groups, palm management, Taricaya and fishery resources, also we will be in touch with the immense variety of flora and fauna that the reserve
offers.
At noon we stop for a while to have a cold lunch.
We visit the Japon and Plantano lagoons, both with a variety of palms, trees and a beautiful scenery; then we arrive to a flooded area in Restinga, where
we set up camp, walk looking for more animals or may prefer to cool off in the water of Yanayacu.
In the evening, we leave by boat for wildlife watching nocturnal habits. Upon returning we have dinner, for further overnight.

DAY 6: PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE /LODGE/IQUITOS
Breakfast.
Then we get ready to begin the return journey to the Lodge, Along the way we will enjoy the landscape that surrounds us and there we can be surprised by
some wildlife we couldn't see on our entrance trip, because in the jungle none of this is predictable.
We arrive at the Lodge at noon to have lunch and personal hygiene to return to Iquitos.
Overnight in Iquitos.
DAY 7: Iquitos
- Breakfast in the hotel.
At the proper time, transfer to the airport.
* The itineraries can vary. If your flight arrives at Iquitos in the morning you goes straight to the lodge and take the next night in town. If your
flight arrives in Iquitos in the afternoon, you take the first night in town and the next in the lodge.

- If you want to go to the lodge the first day, you have to arrive in the first morning flight. The tour starts at 09:30 AM.
- The return from the lodge to the city is at 4:30 PM. We recommend to take the last flight to leave Iquitos.

Vaccinations: It is recommended to be vaccinated against yellow fever; however it is not mandatory.
What to Bring:
Swimming suit, tennis shoes, sandals, a long sleeved shirt, shorts, long pants, a hat, mosquito repellent, sun screen, a torch, a good book,
binoculars, camera. Rubber boots are recommendable to wear when the people are walking through dense jungle. They are available in Iquitos (not
included in the price). As a recommendation, they should wear light-colored-clothing to avoid mosquitoes.
